Expo on splendours of Indian architecture

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) launched its Mangaluru chapter on Saturday by holding an exhibition on the 'Splendours of Indian Architecture' at Kodialguthu mane chavadi.

Photographs of architecture from pre-Christ era till date have been exhibited.

The photographs start with the architectural wonders of Indus valley civilisation between 2,700 BC to 1,700 BC. The photographs represent architectural wonders of each century.

Stupa of Sanchi, the wonders of Ajantha caves, iconic image of the three- headed Shiva called Mahesh of Elephanta, Kailasanath temple of Ellora, Varanasi, Khajuraho Group of Monuments, Jaisalmer, Qutab Minar, the architectural wonders of Vijayanagara empire and others find a place in the expo.

The Thiksey Monastery of Ladak, palace of Gwalior, Jama Masjid of Gujarat, Humayun's Tomb of Gujarat, Fatehpur Sikri of Uttar Pradesh, Akbar's tomb, Gol Gumbaz of Adil Shahis, Jantar Mantar, St Francis of Assisi church, Goa and other modern architectural wonders are part of the expo.

INTACH Mangaluru chapter convener Subhash Basu said the expo is open from 4 pm to 8 pm till December 17.
