Architect Ignacio Permuy, founder and president of Coral Gables-based Permuy Architecture, has a unique personal approach to design and its impact on local communities. He applies his design sensibility to the client’s needs and the project’s own sensibility.
Permuy, who sits on the Coral Gables Construction Regulation Board and Urban Development Review Board (UDRB) in City of Miami, has established a distinct, vision-driven brand of signature designs that transforms even garages and fitness centers into elegant, eye-catching artistic statements.
Permuy engages architecture with an artistic edge. Whenever his team takes on a new project, he says there are a range of goals that they set out to achieve, a sort of “internal checklist,” as he puts it. Team members commit themselves to “elevating each project to its highest potential, regardless of its scale, while best serving the client and community.”
In smaller projects, for example, they reimagine potentially forgettable structures as an exciting opportunity to challenge and surpass expectations with bolder designs that deliver maximum value to the client. At the same time, Permuy and his team never lose sight of the local impact of their work, which often become socioeconomic anchors in their communities.
Permuy Architecture currently is working on a range of projects that display this depth and vitality, with several more in the pipeline to be announced in the coming months.
One highlight is the forthcoming Hotel Palomar in South Beach, an impressive boutique hotel developed by The Finvarb Group with Permuy Architecture as the architect of record and design by Kobi Karp. It boasts a slick design that manages to stand out in the trendy South Beach scene.
The project comes with features you would expect of a much larger structure, including a central atrium, restaurant, fitness center, and a rooftop pool and bar.
To be located at 1750 Alton Rd., near Sunset Harbour, the chic $28 million project also stand five stories with 96 hotel units. Hotel Palomar more than holds its own and will surely make waves as a new South Beach staple when it opens in 2018.
