Viola Davis and husband Julius Tennon open the doors to their serene mansion in LA: 'This is definitely a sanctuary'
Viola Davis and husband Julius Tennon showed off their LA home in the latest issue of Architectural Digest.
The award winning actress and Julius, who have lived in the home for five years, worked with designer Michaela Cadiz to transform the house into their home.
Viola, 57, said of the serene abode: 'Our definition of a home is a sanctuary, and this is definitely a sanctuary.

Viola and Julius, who wed in 2003, share daughter Genesis, 12. Julius, 69, has two children from previous relationships.
Viola revealed their inspiration for their home came while they working in South Africa on The Woman King.
'We were working in South Africa, shooting The Woman King, while the renovation was unfolding, and we were inspired by the incredible color and culture there,' Viola said.
'I always want to go big and bold, but not too bold, not garish,' she added.

'In our space, we want to feel like we're connected to our heritage,' Julius said.
'The pieces in and of themselves tell a story, like the Aboriginal dot art and the African-American art, which is very much rooted in the African-American folktale that our people can fly,' Viola said.
One of the renovations included updating the previously monochromatic home with bold splashes of color, patterns and statement pieces that 'are a feast for the eyes and the spirit,' Michaela said.

The gorgeous home, which features greenery all along the exterior, includes a massive swimming pool.
The kitchen features a large island down the center with stainless steel appliances, and high ceilings.
The stars opted to get a statement black and white patterned couch for their living room, which featured art above the fireplace and a statement light fixture.
The How To Get Away With Murder actress' closest was enormous, featuring a large shoe shelf and plenty of space for her clothing and accessories.
