A visit to Old Town Alexandria can already feel like a breathtaking getaway, and it's only certified further after a street was recently ranked as one of the most beautiful in the world by Architectural Digest (AD).

It's hardly a surprise, but King Street was ranked 70th most beautiful by the interior design magazine due to the area's historic architecture dating back centuries, like City Hall and the Sprite Houses, according to AD.

Streets that ranked higher on the AD list included Puerto Rico'sCalle San Justo, Boston's Beacon Hill, and Brazil'sRua do Bom Jesus, among others.

Starting at the Potomac River and winding through Old Town, the street also holds numerous cozy shops, unique restaurants, and other attractions that draw tens of thousands daily. The street is also quite accessible; roughly 20 minutes out of D.C. and steps away from the King's Street - Old Town Metro Station.

Alexandria officials have also made efforts in recent years to make parts of King Street more walkable.

It's not the first time the street has been recognized in recent months, back in April the street ranked seventh in a list of America's most charming main streets.
