Kyrgyzstan becomes partner country of Surajkund Mela-2018 fair in India

Bishkek, Feb. 8, 2018 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan is chosen as the partner country of the 32nd annual international Surajkund Mela-2018 fair in Faridabad, Haryana on Feb. 2 - 18, 2018, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The annual international Arts & Crafts festival this year brought together thousands of participants from over 30 countries and Indian states and cities.

Surajkund-Mela is a stylized fair with pavilions, where various products of artisans from Indian states and countries participating in the festival are presented. This festival is the largest fair of handicraft products in the world.

A large delegation of 50 people arrived from Kyrgyzstan to participate in the festival.

The exhibition-fair presents strategic programs and projects of the Government of Kyrgyzstan, including the promotion and development of tourism and the World Nomad Games-2018.

On Feb. 2, 2018, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to India Samargul Adamkulova took part in the opening ceremony of the fair, which was held with the participation of the Chief Ministers of the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, as well as the heads of foreign diplomatic missions and delegations of the participating countries.

According to the concept of the festival each year, one state of India is a thematic and one foreign country is a partner country, and they present a more extensive presentation of their products with the decoration to the colors and traditions of the state and the country.

The concept of the thematic state and the partner country was created to encourage and focus on the art, craft, culture and cuisine of the individual state and country.

Thus, the festival provides the thematic state and the partner country with a rare opportunity to demonstrate impressive achievements in handicrafts, needlework, architecture, cuisine and tourist potential.

For all the time of the international festival-festival, Thailand (2012), a group of African countries (2013), Sri Lanka (2014), Lebanon (2015), China and Japan (2016), Egypt (2017) were country-partners.

In 2018, the partner country is Kyrgyzstan, the thematic state is Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state with a population of 200 million.

1.2 million visitors and tourists visited the festive fair in 2017 and 1.5 million visitors and visitors are expected in 2018.

Pavilions of Kyrgyzstan at the Festival are very popular, causing admiration for the color of national clothes, music, handicrafts and environmentally friendly agricultural products.
