Thousands of Chicagoans and visitors from around the world converged on hundreds of architectural sites, design offices and art studios last weekend for the city's annual display of history, urban planning and culture known as Open House Chicago.

We visited some of our favorite sites (like Nichol's Tower, Aloft Circus Arts and Edgewater Beach Apartments, to name a few) and made a point of checking out many of the coolest new spots on the list of 250-some spots—all known for their architectural and historical significance, soaring views of the city and lakefront, and roles in their communities.

Check out our massive gallery of the Kenar Studio, Lytle House, Elks National Memorial, The Museum of Surgical Science, views from the stunning new 150 N. Riverside office building, and so much more.
