Cinestudio at Trinity College in Hartford will show a classic film from East Germany on Thursday, Oct. 26, with the director present.

“The Architects” tells the story of a young, ambitious architect whose outside-the-box plans for a building are opposed by the conservative powers-that-be. The movie is intended as a commentary about how Communist dogma held the country in a creative chokehold, and was created as the Berlin Wall was falling.

Director Peter Kahane will discuss the 1990 film after the screening, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The campus is at 300 Summit St. cinestudio.org.
