Benin Club Golf Section Gets New Executives

The newly elected executives of Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) were sworn-in on Sunday just as members gave a loud standing ovation to usher in new Captain, Stephen Ebaretonbofa while Stella Ajayi emerged as Lady Captain of the Ladies Division

In the keenly contested Vice-Captain position, immediate past Secretary, Victor Oriasotie polled 122 votes to defeat former Secretary, Osazuwa Ehiorobo who polled 78 votes. Also, former Treasurer of the section,  Emmanuel Usoh emerged secretary with 153 votes while his challenger, Enoma Enomase polled 48 votes.

Furthermore, Taofeek Ejalonibu won the competition for secretary position with 102 votes beating Jude Igbinadolor who polled 100 votes while Gordon Imadiyi with 117 votes defeated Eghosa Otabor, who had 87 votes to win Course Officer position.

Dr. Chukwunonso Ndekwu with 120 votes was elected as House Officer ahead of Charles Ikechukwu Egbuziem who had 78 votes. Dr. Anslem Dere and Benjamin Okonofua were elected unopposed for the position of Treasurer and Caddie Officer respectively.

The new Captain, Stephen Ebaretonbofa who could not hide his joy in a chat with journalists noted that he had prepared adequately for the task having served as vice Captain for two years, adding that the new administration cannot afford to do less.

“I was part of the last administration so I know what we have done and where we stopped, and I will continue from there and bring more innovations to the system. We will have green fairways before I leave office by the grace of God because that’s one of my targets which I have already started working on.

“Labourers are on the course trying to install preparatory items for the irrigation we are planning to do as well as filling our bunkers with sand, the expansion of our T-box, we will ensure completion before the rain starts. We will get our equipments in top shape. There are lots to be done but we will kick-start a lot of things,” he said.

A total of 202 members were accredited for the elections held at the club house by the Electoral Committee headed by former Captain of the club, Osagie Nehikhare.
