Counteracting hybrid threats from Russia and developing economic partnership were discussed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Moldovan President Maia Sandu during a meeting in Kyiv on Saturday.

"Our governments understand the common threat – this is Russia. The Kremlin has always used its energy resources as a weapon against other states. Ukraine is ready to help Moldova resolve the energy crisis and has already submitted its proposals," Shmyhal said in Telegram channel on Saturday.

He said that in 2024, trade between Ukraine and Moldova increased by 12%. The prime minister emphasized the interest in further deepening trade and economic cooperation.

In addition, the parties discussed the development of logistics and the improvement of communications between Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the countries of the European Union.

"We coordinated work on European integration. Mutual support and assistance, the establishment of a stable dialogue, the exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as close daily cooperation of our teams will contribute to the further advancement of our states on the path to full membership in the EU," the prime minister said.

Shmyhal thanked Moldova for its continued support of Ukraine in countering Russia's military aggression and providing assistance to Ukrainian citizens.

"Ukraine and Moldova remain important partners, and we appreciate the personal role of Ms. Sandu in the development of cooperation between the two countries," the prime minister said.
