A Wyoming County resident plead guilty to felony charges resulting from a break-in and theft investigation in May 2024, according to a press release Wednesday from the Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
Carlton Parley Musick Jr., 45, of Glen Daniel, pleaded guilty on Jan. 28 to Grand Larceny and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
According to the press release, on May 20, 2024, West Virginia State Police Trooper P.M. Browning of the Jesse State Police Detachment initiated an investigation into a break-in and theft at the K2 Preparation Plant in the Burke Mountain area of Wyoming County.
Browning determined that the property damage was substantial and that a large amount of cable had been stolen.
Later that same day, Sgt. L. Anthony of the Lester Police Department in Raleigh County conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle containing a large amount of copper cable that had been stripped or burned for scrap sale.
West Virginia State Police Trooper H.L. Harvey of the Beckley State Police Detachment responded to the scene of the traffic stop and seized the cable. Browning identified Musick Jr., as a suspect and, after interviewing him, arrested him.
Musick, Jr., will be sentenced in April. Grand larceny is punishable by one to 10 years in prison. Conspiracy to commit a felony is punishable by one to five years in prison.
