Bengali industrialist wants to build 3L affordable housing units in Indonesia
Kolkata: Singapore-based Bengali industrialist Prasoon Mukherjee wants to set up 3 lakh affordable housing units in Indonesia. He was part of a bilateral meeting between India and Indonesia during the recent visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to New Delhi. Mukherjee said Subianto wanted to build 30 lakh affordable housing units in his country with funding from Qatar.
"He wanted active participation from Indian developers. Universal Success, witha footprint in both India and Indonesia, will pitch for that. Our target is to build at least 10% of the total housing units proposed by the President," he said. Mukherjee, who was also present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan event on Jan 26attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Subianto, said that Indonesia looks for cooperation in defence, healthcare, and infrastructure, along with natural gas. "Indonesia has adequate gas. He (Subianto) is keen on LNG partnerships with Indian companies. In Bengal, we need green fuel like LNG, which could be a possible area of cooperation," he added.
