BMKG Forecasts Thunderstorms in Major Cities Across Indonesia Today

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts cloudy weather and rain in varying intensities in almost all major cities across Indonesia today, Friday, January 31, 2025. This was conveyed by BMKG forecaster Raeni Chindi, as quoted by Antara.

According to Raeni, cloudy weather is expected in Banda Aceh, Padang, Medan, Pekanbaru, Jambi, and Tanjung Pinang. Hazy skies will cloud Palembang, while a drizzle will moisten Pangkal Pinang. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Bandar Lampung and Bengkulu.

In Java, light rain is expected in Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya.

In Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, rain and thunderstorms are forecasted in Kupang, while Mataram and Denpasar will remain cloudy today.

BMKG forecasts a drizzle in parts of Kalimantan, namely Palangka Raya and Tanjung Selor. Banjarmasin will experience moderate-intensity rain, while Samarinda will have thunderstorms. Thick clouds are expected to shroud Pontianak.

Palu and Kendari are expecting light rain. Makassar, Mamuju, and Gorontalo will experience moderate-intensity rain. Manado will have thunderstorms.

BMKG also forecasts drizzles in Ambon, Manokwari, and. Sorong, Nabire, Jayawijaya, and Merauke will have moderate-intensity rain. Ternate will experience a thunderstorm.
