As a part of the events dedicated to the Italian design day, the representative of the Italian company of the interior design “Modenes Gastone Interiors Srl” Leandro Scalco visited the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. An introductory tour of the Academy Museum was organized for the guest, as well as a meeting with teachers and students of the architectural and design departments.

Welcoming the audience, Leandro Scalco noted that every visit to Turkmenistan  admires him. He is particularly impressed by the conceptual buildings that continue to be actively built.

– I appreciate how Turkmenistan successfully combines modern technologies with traditional architectural techniques, which makes it possible to meet modern needs. I am especially pleased that the design of buildings constantly includes elements of Turkmen ornaments. It is not only beautiful, but also symbolic. Such details tell about the ancient history of the Turkmen people and their wealth, allowing the new generation to be proud of the heritage of their ancestors, – said the representative of the Italian company.

In the continuation of the meeting, Leandro Scalco presented a video about Modense company, which has been operating since 1818. The famous European brand is famous for the creation of high quality classical Italian wooden furniture and the implementation of interior design projects for elite residential premises.

Students and teachers had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the professional sphere. They were interested in whether the guest visited the furniture salons of Ashgabat. Leandro Scalco noted that more and more local furniture producers appear in the capital of Turkmenistan, which is a positive trend for the development of the industry.

At the end of the meeting, the representative of the Italian company was awarded carpet souvenirs created by students of the Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. In the coming days, the guest will also visit the Turkmen State Architectural and Construction Institute, where he will conduct lectures on the topic of Italian design.

In 2025, the world has celebrated Italian design day for the ninth time. An event aimed at promoting Italian technical and creative developments, as well as the development of production and tourism under the motto “Inequality. Design for a better life." The chosen topic coincides with the concept of the XXIV Milan Triennale and emphasizes the important role of design in the fight against differences and improving the quality of life.
