Dubrovnik may soon add another notable production to its impressive filmography.
According to the IMDb, Mel Gibson’s forthcoming sequel to the 2004 blockbuster, ‘The Passion of the Christ’, tentatively titled ‘The Resurrection of the Christ’, lists Dubrovnik among its filming locations.
IMDb lists Dubrovnik’s Lovrijenac and Bokar forts will be the locations.
Other locations listed include Matera in the southern Italian region of Basilicata, Malta and Rome.

Lovrijenac Fort
The original film, depicting the final hours of Jesus, garnered global attention and became the highest-grossing independent film, amassing nearly $612 million worldwide.
The sequel aims to delve deeper into the events surrounding Jesus’s resurrection, with Jim Caviezel expected to reprise his role as Jesus.
Gibson revealed on a podcast last month that shooting for the sequel would take place in 2026.
Dubrovnik has previously served as a backdrop for several high-profile international productions. Notably, it stood in for King’s Landing in the acclaimed HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’.
