U.S. Undersecretary of State meets with Peru's FA Min

United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer on Monday to discuss ongoing efforts to build upon the nearly 200 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The Deputy Secretary expressed appreciation for Peru's accelerated efforts to stop illegal immigration, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce reported on Tuesday.

Likewise, both dignitaries discussed ways to strengthen bilateral investment and commercial ties. 

They also explored ways to address regional challenges, including combating transnational criminal organizations, she indicated.

"The United States and Peru reaffirm their commitment to reducing illegal migration, as well as combating transnational crime and the illegal extraction of Peru's valuable mineral and natural resources," the diplomat stated on social media in Spanish.

The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in these key areas, the envoy noted.
