It's an event that many people look forward to year after year and a whole host of pop icons and successful local acts have been confirmed for the South Tyneside Festival 2025 summer concerts.
Crowds of over 30,000 have flocked to Bents Park in Sundays throughout July for decades now, to see big names like Busted, Billy Ocean, UB40 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor; with last year's line-up including dance star Sigala and disco legends Sister Sledge. And organisers have pulled out all the stops to ensure that this year's event will be one to remember too.
The summer concert series for South Tyneside Festival will kick off on Sunday, July 13, when the bill will be topped by Sonny Tennet, the talented South Shields singer/songwriter, who is gearing up to his own UK tour, perform at the huge Come Together festival in Newcastle, as well as him going down a storm on the latest series of American Idol, having crossed the Atlantic to try out for the famous talent show. He will be joined on July 10 by Cortney Dixon, Patrick Gosling, Drum Young and NEXT Big Thing acts.
The second free gig on July 20 will be headlined by former X Factor winner Shayne Ward. Since winning the ITV programme at the end of 2025, Shayne has landed a multi platinum number 1 hit with winner's single That's My Goal, a top three album and other top 5 hits with No Promises and No U Hang Up. More recently, he starred in Coronation Street, with the tragic exit storyline which saw his character Aiden end his life by suicide, leaving millions of viewers in tears. He is currently starring in Channel 5's Good Ship Murder and, last year was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
The line-up for July 20 will also feature The Future is Queer, Shelley Stevens and another NEXT Big Thing act, while on July 27 80s legends Nik Kershaw, Katrina, formerly of Katrina & The Waves will entertain, along with the the Understudies, NEXT Big Thing act. And then finally, the last concert on August 3,

Admission to the Sunday Concerts is FREE. However, a limited number of Priority tickets are available from Ticketmaster or Shop @ The Word for £6 per person to guarantee access on the day. Tickets will only be available for sale until seven days before each concert from Ticketmaster, or up to 12noon on the day before each concert, from Shop @ The Word.
