The Havertown Choristers: directed by Jennifer Cox, will present its Spring Concert on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 8 P.M., in the Haverford Township High School auditorium, 200 Mill Rd.  The program will include “The Last Words of David” by Thompson, “Speak to One Another of Psalms” by Berger, “Climbin’ Up the Mountain” by Smith, and selections from The Sound of Music by Rodgers/Hammerstein II/Warnick.  An additional feature will be an audience sing-along.  Guest artists presented on the program will be the Haverford High School Chamber Singers directed by David Fernandes.  The Havertown Choristers is affiliated with the Haverford Township Adult School.  Admission is free but donations are appreciated.  For information, call 610-446-1595.

Bingo and comedy: when the Knights of Columbus Mater Dei Council #4129 invites the community to a fun-filled evening at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Cardinal O’Hara High School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Those attending can enjoy the comedy and music of Greg Martiello, while playing their favorite game. Ticket includes 10 games, with three cards per game. Additional games and daubers will be available at registration. Snacks and soft drinks will be for sale, or attendees can BYOB or order food from local sponsor restaurants. Celebrate Age Expo: is Friday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack, 777 Harrah’s Blvd., Chester. The Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) will join Delaware County Council to hold the annual free event. The event is held every year in May in recognition of Older Americans Month. The event is being sponsored by Always Best Care senior services, Jefferson Health Plans, PA Health and Wellness, the County of Delaware, and COSA. Do you worry: about how much someone drinks? Al-Anon and Alateen can help.  Attend an Al-Anon meeting on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 356 Summit Road, Springfield. Schoolhouse Senior Center: 600 Swarthmore Ave., Folsom, is selling tickets for its annual Spring Fling, to be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 16 at the Oaks Ballroom in Glenolden. Cost is $45 for Schoolhouse members and $50 for non-members. All ticket holders can choose either Prime Rib or Stuffed Flounder as an entrée. Schoolhouse will be selling the tickets daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until they’re gone. Guests are encouraged to buy them sooner than later. Penn-Delco School District: opens kindergarten and new student registration for 2025-26. Families can complete the enrollment process through Skyward, the district’s online student information system. All students attending Penn-Delco schools must reside within the district. Families enrolling a child in kindergarten should note that children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025, to be eligible. The district is proud to offer a full-day kindergarten program at each of its elementary schools, ensuring a strong foundation for young learners. When registering, it is important to select the correct school year (2025-2026) in Skyward. If the current school year (2024-2025) is selected by mistake, families will need to restart the process, as registrations cannot be transferred. Registration is not considered complete until the online application has been submitted, and all required documents have been received, reviewed, and approved by the district. Wallingford-Swarthmore Kindergarten Registration: for 2025-26 is open. To be eligible for kindergarten admission in September 2025, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025. No exceptions. Students must be registered by Feb. 28 to be eligible for the lottery to select a.m./p.m. The district offers online registration at www.wssd.org/registration.  Questions concerning online registration should be directed to Derrick L. If you are unable to register online, call the Educational Data and Registration Office at 610-892-3470 ext. 1304 to schedule an appointment to complete the registration online at the administration office.

The Italian Cultural Center: Of The Delaware Valley inside the historic Lazaretto Building on the waterfront in Tinicum Township, is open. Volunteers are needed to help out during summer visiting hours, which are 2 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays. Every Child Needs a Champion: Learn more about becoming a child’s advocate with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Our mission is empowering community volunteers to connect with and champion children and youth involved in the child welfare system, advocating for equity, resources, stability and permanency. We envision a bright future in which all children and youth have the resiliency, consistent relationships with caring adults, and access to child welfare, education, health, and human services they need to fully experience the joys of childhood and pursue their dreams. Nar-Anon Family Group: Courage to Live meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Brookhaven Municipal Center, 2 Cambridge Road, Brookhaven.  All those affected by a loved one’s addiction are welcome. The meeting is wheelchair accessible.

The Delaware County Victim Assistance Center: in Media has been providing services to victims of sexual assault and to their significant others since 1974. The nonprofit agency depends on volunteers to meet the needs of clients 24 hours a day. Services include hospital/police interview accompaniment, and telephone crisis intervention. Volunteers receive a 40-hour training to prepare them for their responsibilities and are asked to provide support at least twice a month for an evening or weekend shift. The center offers free: and confidential counseling in person and through a 24-hour hotline to victims of sexual assault. It provides medical, police and court accompaniment. The center also facilitates support groups for adult survivors of sexual abuse, adult rape survivors, and teen survivors of sexual assault. Educational programs are available to schools, professionals and community groups. Any questions or for services, call the hotline anytime at 610-566-4342.

Plus, the center offers: police/court accompaniment, advocacy and free confidential counseling to victims of serious crimes including robbery, burglary, assault, arson and the surviving family members of homicide victims. Same phone number and website for details.

Trips

The St. Mary Magdalen Seniors’ Social Club: will take a trip to the Walnut Street Theatre to see the musical “Dream Girls” and enjoy dinner at the Positano Coast Restaurant in Philadelphia on Thursday, April 24. Cost is $212, which includes deluxe motor coach transportation to and from St. Mary Magdalen parking lot in Upper Providence, the 2 p.m. show admission and dinner. Middletown Township has the following trips to offer the public:

• Thursday, May 8, A Day in Peddler’s Village: Enjoy the day on your own to shop and have lunch or join us for breakfast bingo at Cock’n Bull. Leaving at 7:30 a.m. and returning by 5 p.m. $92 per person with bingo or $60 per person for just coach.

• Saturday, May 17, NYC-Ground Zero Memorial/Museum: First, lunch on own in area near museum. Admission included for self-guided tour for the 911 Museum & Memorial. Bus leaving at 7:30 a.m. and returning at 7:30 p.m. $100 per person

• Saturday, May 31, New York City on your own: Easy way to visit museums, catch a Broadway show, do some shopping or sightseeing.  Call the township before purchasing show tickets. Bus leaving at 8:30 a.m., returning by 8:30 p.m. $75 per person

Upper Chichester Senior Citizens Club:

• Monday June 30 going to the Tropicana in Atlantic City for “Tribute to the Songs of Smokey Robinson.” $85 includes transportation, $20 in slot play and admission to the 3 p.m. show.

• Thursday July 10: The Pines Dinner Theatre in Allentown for “Footloose.” $135 includes transportation, lunch and show.

Sept. 23: Flight 93 Memorial, Shanksville, and tour of home built by Architect Frank Lloyd Wright called “Fallingwater.” Cost is $175.

Oct. 23: Lehigh Gorge Railroad, with free time to browse in Jim Thorpe, Pa. Lunch included lunch, and train ride for scenic views of the gorge.  Cost is $170.

Nov. 13: Windcreek Casino, Bethlehem. $25 in slot play. Cost $50.

Dec. 11: Christmas Spectacular Radio City Music Hall featuring The Rockettes and dinner at Georgine’s. Cost is $245, with a $100 deposit due immediately.

Briarcliffe Seniors Club trips:

The bus will depart at 10 a.m. for all of the trips from the Springfield Country Club parking lot in Springfield and return there in the early evening.

• The club will host a trip to Resorts Casino on Tuesday, April 29. Cost is $35, with $20 back in slot play.

• Three more trips are planned to Atlantic City, going to the Tropicana Casino, on Monday, May 19, and again on Tuesday, June 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 21. Cost is $35 for each, with $10 back in slots play.

• Three more trips are planned to Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, each costing $85, with $25 back in slot play and a show. The bus will leave at 10 a.m. each trip. On Thursday, July 31, the show will be “Cher: The Ultimate Tribute. On Thursday, Aug. 28, the show will be “The Doo Wop Project,” and on Thursday, Sept. 25, the show is “An Afternoon of The Bee Gees.”

• Lake George, New York, for five days and four nights, June 22-26

• Boothbay, Maine, Plymouth, Massachusetts, and Salmon, Massachusetts, five nights, six days, Sept. 28 to Oct. 3.

Enjoy all of his most famous hits such as “My Girl,” “Tears of a Clown,” “You Better Shop Around” and many more. The bus departs from St. Kevins for the casino at 10:15 a.m. Cost $82 for admission to the 3:00 p.m. show and $20 slot play. A $100 cash prize with 40 paying passengers.
