Choosing a name for your wee one is no small feat - it's one of the most significant decisions a parent will ever make. Whether you're drawn to traditional monikers or fancy something a bit more unique, picking out a name for your child is far from simple.
Over time, we've seen names rise and fall in popularity, with some becoming emblematic of the decades they were most prevalent in (80s and 90s babies will know the struggle of having half a dozen Chloes and Matthews in their year group).
However, there are those that have stood the test of time and continue to be popular choices for families across the UK.
In recent times, there's been a noticeable uptick in families opting for classic, vintage names for their newborns. Names hailing from the 1950s are still a hit with parents, whether they're after uniqueness, simplicity or a timeless appeal, reports MyLondon.
According to Good Housekeeping, here's a list of the top 20 vintage names making a resurgence this year.
Here are the 20 top vintage names making a comeback.
1. James - Still a firm favourite, James is often viewed as a timeless name.
Back in the 50s, it was synonymous with the rebellious youth culture of the era, largely due to Rebel Without a Cause star James Dean.
2. Mary - Mary reigned supreme as the most popular female name throughout the 50s, narrowly beating Linda.
One of the standout Marys from the 50s was Mary Blair, an artist whose collaboration with Disney on classics like Lady and the Tramp, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella made her a household name.
3. The evergreen name Michael became synonymous with the classic American country and western vibe, thanks to television icon Michael Landon, famed for his role in the 1959 hit Bonanza, bolstering the name's widespread popularity.
4. In a tight contest for popularity in the 1950s, Linda closely trailed behind Mary for the top spot.
Despite Mary clinching the lead, Linda has remained an enduring favourite through the decades.
5. The name Robert soared in popularity amongst actors during the 1950s, propelled by luminaries such as Robert Mitchum, Robert Taylor, and Robert Conrad.
Renowned for its meaning, "shining with glory," Robert's allure seems timeless.

7. John, a name with an enduring legacy of popularity that predates the 50s, topped the charts between 1900 and 1923 and remained a top-five contender annually from 1924 to 1972.
It retains its prominence today, still featuring within the top 30 baby names list.

It only secured the top position for one year - in 1960 - but remains a favourite today. These days, it's more likely to be found in the top 30 list rather than the top five, but it's still a go-to choice for many families.
10. Deborah/Debra - Both Deborah and Debra were incredibly popular girls' names throughout the 1950s.
