It’s not as luxurious as The White Lotus — a string of fabulous resorts featured in HBO’s hit series — but this outdoor living area at an Alabama home sure comes close.
It features a fancy pool with fountains and an underwater sound system, an immaculately outfitted outdoor kitchen, a swanky space for lounging and dining, high-tech entertainment equipment, A+ landscaping and much more.
You’ll need an invitation to see everything in person — the fabulous space is at a private home in Tuscaloosa — but fans of architecture and design can get a peek at the seven-figure project, courtesy of the Alabama Remodeling Excellence Awards.
Trick Construction & Remodel, a company in Northport, created the outdoor living area as part of the extensive revamp of a house at the NorthRiver Yacht Club. The owners, a young couple with a growing family, wanted major changes at their residence, after buying a house that had lots of space but little contemporary panache.
A three-year project ensued, remodeling the entire place from top to bottom. Adding an outdoor living area to the house was challenging, the team at Trick Construction said, but they succeeded in transforming a simple backyard into a showplace on the 3.3-acre property.
No wonder, then, that the outdoor living project in Tuscaloosa was a big winner at the 2025 Alabama Remodeling Excellence Awards, taking three awards this spring: Best in Show, People’s Choice and first place in the Outdoor Living category.
(Photos of the project, which Trick Construction called “Four Seasons Outdoor Living,” can be seen in the gallery at the top of this post. The names of the homeowners and the cost of the remodel were not revealed. )
“This outdoor living space was meticulously designed to rival the finest luxury resorts with a blend of relaxation, entertainment and natural beauty,” the construction company said in its description of the project.
“At the heart of the space is a stunning pool with a retractable cover that can be walked on. The pool is equipped with an underwater sound system and accented by fountains that add visual and auditory appeal. The outdoor entertainment area features a massive sound system and large television housed within a built-in unit. Glass panels line the retention walls to offer unobstructed views of the wooded area at the rear of the lot.
“Twenty-two foot-wide accordion folding doors connect the pool to the outdoor kitchen and covered living area, creating a seamless indoor-outside transition. The kitchen is fully equipped with a pizza oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, Green Egg smoker and flat-top grill. Adjacent to the kitchen, a large wood-burning fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere for cooler evenings. The flooring throughout the area was laid in a French mill pattern. The landscaping features limestone pavers that create clean, elegant pathways and turf that provides year-round greenery with minimal maintenance. The result is a resort-like experience in the comfort of home.”

Aaron Sincroft, owner of Trick Construction, sums up the space in eight words during an interview with AL.com: “It’s about as nice as you can get.”
The company won another remodeling award this year for the revamped kitchen at the Tuscaloosa house, taking the top spot in the category for Kitchen Remodel Over $150,000. (See photos of that project in the gallery below.)
Still, the outdoor living area was a showstopper at the awards, with its opulent appeal and eye-catching elements.
“One of the difficulties, but also one of the exciting things about the job, is we didn’t have 100% of an idea of what it was going to look like when it was finished,” said Keith Parker, operations manager at Trick Construction. “It kind of evolved as the job went along. The owner would have new visions and we would add new things as we went.”
Resorts in Las Vegas were one inspiration for the homeowners — a detail-minded businessman with a fondness for technology, his wife and their two young children — and no expense was spared in transforming the residence into their dream home.
Sherry King, remodeling department manager at Trick Construction, said the outdoor living area has several elements that aren’t included in the photos: a huge garage with its own oil-change pit; deluxe dog kennels with heating, air-conditioning and a fire hydrant; a play area with an in-ground trampoline for the couple’s children and more.
The company had been remodeling the Tuscaloosa house for about a year when the outdoor living space was added to their agenda, and both projects proved to be unique and time-consuming. The team had to be creative and flexible — listening to the homeowners’ ideas, finding the right subcontractors, sourcing specific materials and problem-solving along the way.

“The homeowner likes to refer to it as a design build,” Parker said. “In other words, as he would design in his head, we would build it.”
“Nothing was normal,” Sincroft said. “It was nothing like any typical residential house.”
Now that the entire project is finished — and has earned a total of four Remodeling Excellence Awards — the folks at Trick Construction look back at their work on the Tuscaloosa house with professional satisfaction.
“There’s a great sense of accomplishment for the company in general,” King said. “It’s something to be really, really proud of.”
