Park Rapids Area High School had its scholarship and award ceremony on Friday, May 16.
Local and regional businesses, organizations and community members awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships this year in support of students in their future endeavors.
A total of $67,050 in local scholarships were awarded. Together with $275,370 college and other outside scholarships, graduating seniors received a grand total of $342,420 in financial support as follows:

The Outstanding English Award went to Emma Berghuis, Natalie Berghuis, Nora Bolton, Nora Cederstrom, Tyler Crissinger, Kiera Demoret, Kadence Ennen, Thomas Lopez, Aiden Maanum, Abigail Marsden, Isabel Nevala, Allie Rowland, Abby Runyan, Harmony Trygstad and Anna Yliniemi.
Grace Ruper was named artist of the year and Kyla Mercil the outstanding student council member. Catherine Worner won the John Philip Sousa award, and Abby Runyan received the National School Choral Award. Foreign exchange students Yi-Nuo Lai and Karolina Trckova were also recognized.
Perfect attendance awards went to freshmen Jaden Davis, Andrew Mercil, Austin Miller, Karlee Rowland and Christopher Vargas; sophomores Madeline Brandt, Molly Cederstrom and Kolby Crabb; juniors Malakia Avila, Kaden Gartner, Sarah Hartung, Katelin Wheeler and Hunter Siltman; and seniors Kaden Crabb, Santhu McFarlane, Brandi Morgan and Sean Ward.
