Kwik Trip in June will begin construction on a new 14,000-square-foot health center that will expand upon wellness offerings, especially in post-surgery services and physical therapy, for employees, Ben Leibl, company spokesperson, told CSP.

The center, which also will include a pharmacy solely for employees, will be added onto La Crosse, Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip’s daycare facility, which is about a five-minute drive from the company’s support center, Leibl said.

The clinic and pharmacy will be at 2839 Darling Court.

Kwik Trip expects the center, which will be available for full- and part-time employees, to be completed by April 2026, said Leibl, adding that the company has outgrown an existing clinic for employees that is in an industrial park.

The company has about 4,000 coworkers at its support center campus, Leibl said, plus coworkers who work at La Crosse-area Kwik Trips who also will use the healthcare center—“thus the new building,” he said.

"Kwik Trip is committed to our coworkers’ wellness by expanding our healthcare center,” Leibl told CSP. “This project highlights our dedication to providing accessible, high-quality health services for our coworkers.”

Kwik earlier this month was named best gas station brand and best gas station food in the United States in the 2025 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Another convenience-store chain that has been addressing employee wellness is Sheetz, which earlier this year opened its third Shwellness Center in its headquarters of Altoona, Pennsylvania. The centers are designed to prioritize the holistic well-being of Sheetz employees and eligible family members, the company said.

The chain’s first wellness center opened in 2012 on the company’s Claysburg, Pennsylvania, campus. Its second location is at its Burlington, North Carolina, distribution center.

Services are available to every Sheetz team member and their eligible dependents at no cost.

Kwik Trip, which is planning its first North Dakota locations in late 2025, has nearly 900 locations and is one of the biggest independently held c-store chains in the country. It has locations in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin under the Kwik Trip banner and stores in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota under the Kwik Star name. Kwik Trip produces more than 80% of the products sold in its stores, supplied by its own bakery, commissary, dairy and distribution center.
