Cedar Park has quickly established itself as a regional destination since opening in November 2024, offering the Pacific Northwest’s first integrated concrete skate park, asphalt pump track and jump line.
Located just blocks from downtown Sandy and Highway 26, the 10-acre park has transformed a previously underserved neighborhood while attracting visitors from across the region.
The park provides a rich array of amenities including both passive and active recreation and opportunities to engage with the natural environment.
The centerpiece of Cedar Park is its groundbreaking action sports complex, featuring a 20,000-square-foot skate park, equally sized asphalt pump track and 1,200-linear-foot asphalt jump line. Unlike traditional facilities that separate these features, Cedar Park integrates them completely. This design allows users on skateboards, bikes, roller blades and adaptive wheeled equipment to move seamlessly between features. The paved surfaces ensure year-round accessibility regardless of weather conditions.
Beyond action sports, Cedar Park offers an inclusive nature-themed playground with a hillside slide, 100-foot zipline, wood-log parkour course and multiple swings. Extensive paved walking paths connect to the adjacent Sandy River Park, providing visitors with trail access and fishing opportunities.
The park flips many traditional conventions by fully integrating action sports elements, blending playground features and designing a space where activities flow together rather than being isolated.
The park’s development addressed specific community needs identified in the 2022 Sandy Parks and Trails Master Plan, which noted insufficient developed community parks and called for upgrading the city’s outdated skate park. Extensive public outreach included focus groups with non-native English speakers, senior citizens and youth to ensure the design met diverse community needs.
Beginning in design and continuing through construction, ongoing 3D site drone-based scans were utilized to continuously monitor excavation and ensure a balance of all cut and fill activities. Contractors Goodfellow Bros. and American Ramp Co. completed the project on budget and ahead of schedule, delivering the park months earlier than the initially projected January or February 2025 opening.
The park’s pump track is designed to host high-profile events like Red Bull competitions, supporting the city’s goal of attracting major action sports gatherings while boosting the local economy.
Cedar Park represents the first phase of a potential multi-phase campus development that may eventually include indoor recreation facilities and community meeting areas.
