Brentwood, Tennessee-based AMI Metals Inc., a global aerospace manufacturer, has announced it will nearly double its Inland Northwest footprint by building a new 101,000-square-foot facility in Spokane Valley.
The manufacturing and distribution warehouse will be located at 4024 N. Barker Road, east of the Amazon fulfillment center that’s located at 18007 E. Garland, according to building permit information on file with the city of Spokane Valley.
AMI acquired the 12-acre land parcel earlier this year for $4.3 million, Spokane County Assessor’s Office information shows.
The project valuation is $9 million, permit information shows, up from the original $8 million valuation the Journal reported in October.
The new facility will replace AMI’s current 56,000-square-foot leased location at 301 N. Haven, in Spokane.
“This expansion reflects our strong commitment to the aerospace industry in the Northwest region of the U.S.,” AMI President Bernie Rees says in a Washington state Department of Commerce press release. “The Pacific Northwest is a key region for our business, and this investment allows us to scale to meet growing demand from customers in the greater Washington state market and beyond.”
The facility will increase AMI’s capacity to process aluminum plates, which are critical components used throughout the aerospace supply chain. The additional space will also allow for increased hiring of Inland Northwest employees.
“This investment not only brings new job opportunities for our local workforce, but it also reinforces Spokane County’s role as a key contributor to the global aerospace supply chain,” says Greater Spokane Incorporated CEO Alisha Benson in the release.
A timeline for the project isn’t mentioned in the release, however, the building permit was issued by the city this week.
Spokane Valley-based Divcon Inc. is listed as the contractor for the project and Architectural Ventures, also of Spokane Valley, is the architect.
