The Nashua Silver Knights traveled north to Burlington, Vt. for a pivotal showdown with the Lake Monsters, aiming for their seventh straight win. Despite a strong effort, the Knights couldn’t keep the momentum rolling, falling 7-1 at Centennial Field as their win streak ended at six games.

From the get-go the Knights (12-9) started slowly as starting pitcher Ethan Hunt got hit around early. The Lake Monsters would start the scoring in the third inning as they would score three runs with two coming off the bat of Thomas O’Connell who doubled to the gap.

In the fourth, Vermont would strike again as it would spell an end to Hunt’s day as overall he tallied as he allowed four runs on five hits in three innings.

The bullpen for Nashua would do alright in immediate relief as Kevin Rourke and Scott Longo would toss four innings combined just allowing one run.

The lone run for the Knights would come in the eighth as Will Shaheen grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Cole Patterson. Vermont would tack on two more runs before this game was over as Leandro Guevara’s double drove in two.

The Knights’ hits did not translate to runs. Patterson, Joe Zorc, and Jake Haarde all tallied two hits in the loss. The errors also hurt the Knights as they had two.

Nashua has today off before being back in action on Tuesday at Westfield.
