The Hamptons is known for its luxurious beaches, coastal charm, lush vineyards and quaint villages. The string of seaside communities, located in New York State, is a popular warm-weather destination for New Yorkers and celebs alike. If you've been craving a Hamptons-style summer but don't want to make the trek across the border, this "destination dupe" in Ontario offers the same dreamy vibe — no passport required.

With gorgeous white sand beaches, charming wineries, storybook villages and gorgeous scenery, it's like a little slice of the Hamptons right here in Canada.

The New York Times recently revealed "4 Canadian roadtrips with a luxury twist," outlining "classy destination dupes" for popular U.S. getaway spots.

Destination dupes often refer to lower-cost, less-crowded alternatives to well-known vacation spots, and Ontario happens to have one that channels major Hamptons energy.

According to the New York Times article, Prince Edward County is a destination dupe for the Hamptons and offers a "maple syrup meets Norman Rockwell" vibe.

Like the Hamptons, Prince Edward County boasts gorgeous sandy beaches, scenic vineyards and an artsy atmosphere. It's a popular weekend getaway spot and is conveniently located between Ottawa and Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario.

"Think the East End of the 1960s or '70s, an artsy enclave where the main appeal is vineyards, craft breweries and high-end thrift stores," the Times says.

You certainly won't be starved for things to do in this picturesque lakeside region. From farm markets to swimming, wine tasting, and shopping, your getaway will be packed with dreamy adventures.

You can spend some time exploring the quaint villages and communities dotted throughout the region. Picton is a charming destination to visit, with storybook streets, cozy cafes and water views.

Or, head to Wellington, where you'll find cute local shops and beaches.

Bloomfield is another place to add to your agenda. Situated in the heart of Prince Edward County, the destination is known for its historic architecture, galleries, and restaurants.

For a true Hamptons-inspired getaway, Sandbanks Provincial Park is the place to be. Home to three gorgeous beaches that are "among the best in Canada," the park is a white sand paradise with rolling dunes and turquoise waves.

Other beaches to visit include North Beach Provincial Park and Wellington Beach.

Don't miss out on Prince Edward County's renowned wine scene. The rolling countryside is dotted with vineyards that look like they've been plucked from a postcard. Wineries like Sandbanks Estate Winery, Karlo Estates Winery, TerraCello Winery and Closson Chase Vineyards are gorgeous spots to enjoy a day of wine tasting.

When it comes to accommodations, The County offers some beautiful hotels, Airbnbs, resorts and more. Spots like The Lakeside Motel, The Drake Hotel, The June Motel, Wander the Resort, and The Royal Hotel are just a few of the gorgeous getaway spots found in the region.

With its Hamptons vibes and summer charm, Prince Edward County is a luxurious getaway spot right here in Ontario.
