This was conveyed on Saturday by Redy Hendra Gunawan, a special staff member at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
He said the MBG program has been gradually rolled out since Sekolah Rakyat began operations on July 14.
"Alongside the launch of Sekolah Rakyat, BGN has gradually distributed free meals to the participating schools. As of now, the number of student beneficiaries has reached 848," he noted.
Unlike regular public schools, which typically provide only one lunch meal, Sekolah Rakyat offers a different model. Students receive three full meals daily, along with morning and afternoon snacks.
Gunawan added that the number of MBG beneficiaries at Sekolah Rakyat is expected to grow as more kitchens — officially called Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) — are established across the country.
According to BGN’s latest data, 16 kitchens are currently ready to support Sekolah Rakyat operations.
"Recognizing the importance of balanced nutrition in supporting effective teaching and learning, we will continue to push for all Sekolah Rakyat students to gain immediate access to MBG services," Gunawan emphasized.
He also provided an update on the MBG program’s national rollout. As of the end of this week, 2,109 kitchens are now operational — an increase of 111 since July 14. The total number of MBG beneficiaries across Indonesia has now reached nearly 6.38 million people.
