The BMW Abu Dhabi dealership has revealed yet another one of its creations, an M760Li covered in goodies and one of our favorite shades of blue out there.
San Marino blue isn't limited to one particular BMW, but it's usually associated with the really fast ones. For example, the M6 Cabriolet made its NYIAS 2012 debut that way, and after that, we saw plenty of F80 M3s adopting it.
But this isn't an M3, it's the M760Li. You can make a point about it being an M Performance model and thus not a true M car. But BMW has dulled its sharp edge, and this is still a pretty sharp tip, sharper than the 7 Series used to be.
Before we talk about the standard specs, let's examine the add-ons on this particular M760Li. For starters, it's got the 3D Design Front Spoiler creating individuality for this car. But at the back, it just borrows the trunk lid element from Alpina's B7. The project also offers up a set of exclusive 21” M Performance Wheels with a snazzy black and silver paint finish. And how about those carbon fiber mirrors?
Of course, the M760Li's party trick is that it comes with the biggest BMW engine, a V12 that pretty much ties the 600 horsepower output of the all-new M5, but also produces 800Nm (590 lb-ft) at 1,500rpm, 100 more than the M5. It all goes to M-tuned 8-speed automatic and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system modified to have a rear bias.
BMW's numbers say it will do 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds, which is better than the old M5 by 0.4 seconds, but 0.5 of a second slower than the newcomer.
The Bavarian automaker also offers a no-cost ‘Excellence’ option which gets rid of the M aerodynamic package and the model designation replacing it with a simple ‘V12’ badge at the back, while adding classic 20inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels and black brake calipers. But as you can see, that's not cutting it for our friends in Abu Dhabi.
