A group of criminals had kidnapped Armenian businessman Suren Mamyan in the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv, handcuffed him, and demanded a $500,000 ransom from his relatives.

According to the press service of the Kyiv Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Mamyan was kidnapped on February 6, but the Kyiv police rescued him on February 17, reported the Social Media News.

Kyiv police chief informed that they have detained several persons involved in this kidnapping, and these persons were in the same house as the kidnapping victim. 

The investigation is still in progress to determine the circumstances and motives behind this crime and the identity of the others that were involved in it.

The kidnapped Armenian businessman was kept in a private house handcuffed on a bed for virtually two weeks.

Suren Mamyan said he was treated well by his kidnappers, and he was beaten only at the time of the kidnapping.
