Hisense launches first OLED TV in Australia at last

By

It has taken nearly a year since first being announced at CES 2018, but Hisense's first OLED TV has emerged down under at last, promising the Art of Darkness rather than the Dark Arts in making TV picture magic.

Ok, so we won't need Harry Potter to battle the Dark Arts, because Harry Potter and Dark Arts aren't real, but the Art of Darkness from Hisense has finally materialised into reality.

Promising "stunning, deep blacks" that an OLED can deliver, with a "super slim, bezel-less" design that "boasts a sleek metal frame", Hisense has "combined style with smarts", complete with the company's "VIDAA U 2.5 Smart TV OS that is compatible with Hisense’s RemoteNOW smart app, giving Australians a fast and intuitive user experience".

All of this is within Hisense Australia's first ever OLED TV, which has arrived at major retailers around Australia well before Christmas.

As you'd expect, this new TV bolsters the company’s "existing range of premium televisions", with Hisense proclaiming its new OLED TV is a "welcome addition to the fleet, providing Australians that are searching for an incredible at-home viewing experience with more choice than ever before".

That choice includes the Hisense OLED being available "in both 55-inch and 65-inch models, with RRPs of $3,499 and $4,999 respectively".

Andre Iannuzzi, head of Marketing at Hisense Australia, said: "Australian consumers crave high-quality technology in their homes but are also incredibly design-conscious, especially when it comes to their TVs. The increasing demand for our premium ULED TVs reflects this, with our entire range experiencing strong growth year on year.

“The launch of the Hisense OLED TV further demonstrates our unwavering commitment to brilliant design, technology and innovation, which are at the heart of everything we do. We’re very excited to be bringing this product to market.”

Billed as "bold and brilliant", with die-hard American soapie loving fans no doubt wanting the word "beautiful" added into that description, Hisense proudly boasts its OLED TV is "packed with the technologies designed to optimise image quality, including 4K Ultra-HD, Wide Colour Gamut, High Dynamic Range and a 200 Smooth Motion Rate. The result is a vibrant, vivid and strikingly precise display of colour surrounded by deep blacks, creating enhanced contrast".

We're told the Hisense OLED "boasts a super slim, bezel-less design that makes the screen appear limitless. This sleek and slim aesthetic, paired with the TV’s wide viewing angle, ensures that the brightness and image remains consistent no matter where the viewer sits".

Chris Mayer, product specialist at Hisense Australia, said: “The type of TV you should purchase really depends on your space and viewing habits.

“The Hisense OLED display offers striking contrast and deep blacks, making it a great choice for Australians that enjoy regularly watching movies at home. Viewing films on an OLED TV in a dark environment is recommended, as it heightens the contrast and allows the colour to really pop off the screen,” he explained.

“ULED, on the other hand, provides a brighter viewing experience that is effective at offsetting natural light – such as that in open plan living rooms.”

The Hisense Series 9 ULED TV is "particularly good in this scenario because it offers 2500-nit Peak Brightness, ensuring contrast and image quality is maintained even if the space is flooded with light".

“We’re thrilled to introduce the Hisense OLED as it means we can now offer Australians both Hisense’s ULED and OLED solutions, enabling them to see the incredible no matter the nature of their living space,” Mayer concluded.

The Hisense OLED TV is only available at major Australian retailers, with those locations here.
